The transmission repair of your car is nothing but fixing the gear box which converts torque and speed from a rotating power source to another device using gear ratios. If you are in England a transmission repair would mean fixing the whole drive train such as clutch, gearbox and the rear wheel drive also known as the prop shaft, final drive shafts and differential etc. So the next time you choose to take your car to the auto repair shop to fix the transmission, remember that automobile transmissions are of two types:

Manual transmission:

Manual transmission also known as Standard transmission forms the core set up in a conventional car. Here the gear ratios are shifted manually by the driver. It regulates the torque when getting transferred into the internal combustion engine. A car with manual transmission is ideal for amateur car drivers as it helps take full control of their cars when driving. A car with manual transmission requires careful and precise timing and proper co-ordination with the steering wheel when driving the car. Nearly all auto repair shops can fix cars with Manual transmission.

Automatic transmission: In automatic transmission gears get changed through a computerized process as and when the car moves. They have a fixed set of gear ratios which relieve the driver from the hassle of changing gears manually. Since the 1950’s cars with automatic transmission have been highly well loved in the United States of America. Automatic transmissions are less energy efficient compared to its manual counter parts. Hence transmission service shops use power train mechanics to fix such cars.

Servicing your car regularly helps maintain the performance of your car for a longer duration. The next time you take your car for servicing at the local Auto repair shop, request them for a mechanic who specializes in power train repair or Auto transmission repair. There are also many auto repair shops which specialize in transmission services.

a.First the mechanic will inspect the transmission pan in the car to see if the problem can be fixed if not then the mechanic may suggest that your car may require a major transmission repair that is a complete replacement of the engine parts.

b.He’ll see if the transmission needs any kind of overhauling to be done.

c.If the transmission needs to be rebuilt.

d. See if the Transmission shop maintains high technical standards when servicing your car.

With a rapid advancement in technology taking place in the automobile industry, the work of most Car service mechanics is not only mechanical in nature but also electronic. Many automobile transmissions have the ability to choose one in several different gear ratios (commonly known as “gears”).These gears help in slowing down the output of the engine and increase torque.
But the gears may go into overdrive mode if the output speed has increased.
